Our Team

Tony Bakos, Attorney

Tony is the founder and principal of AJB Law Group. He has practiced law for more than 25 years and represents numerous companies with their day-to-day needs involving commercial matters, corporate governance, real estate, and intellectual property.  He has been integrally involved with the formation of various business ventures, structuring joint venture relationships, international transactions, licensing and franchising, mergers and acquisition, and a variety of real estate matters.

Tony spent twelve years at 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary where he was responsible for the company’s domestic and foreign legal matters.  He was responsible for legal matters related to various acquisitions and mergers, corporate governance, financing activities, employment matters, litigation, celebrity/athlete relationships and government relations.

Previously, Tony was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Chevys Mexican Restaurants (then a subsidiary of PepsiCo).  During his three years at the company, he was closely involved in the company’s growth and business operations.

Tony spent several years in the business and real estate departments of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati and Crosby Heafey Roach & May (now Reed Smith) where he worked on a wide variety of complex business and real estate transactions.

Tony holds Juris Doctor, Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) degrees from the University of California, at Berkeley.

Lisa Hulse, Executive Assistant

Lisa’s experience includes twelve years as an Executive Assistant to CEO’s and other C-Level Executives. She and Tony have been working together for the past nine years. Prior to this role, Lisa was Executive Assistant to Tony Bakos during his tenure as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at 24 Hour Fitness.

 Education- University of California at Davis, where she graduated with honors and was elected into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Tammy Nakatani, Senior Paralegal

Tammy’s experience includes a broad range of corporate and intellectual property matters, including forming corporations, corporate governance, general corporate matters, corporate filings, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, equity and corporate financings, joint ventures, trademark and brand protection, trademark filings and registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, trademark infringement matters, and IP license agreements.  Prior to AJB Law Group, Tammy was at 24 Hour Fitness for eight years as a Senior Paralegal, where she worked in-house on a variety of corporate, trademark, and transactional matters.

Patsy West, Senior Paralegal

Patsy’s experience includes an emphasis on real estate and business transactions.  Patsy has worked on the negotiation and preparation of commercial leases nationwide, all phases of real estate acquisitions, sales, debt financings, title and survey review and negotiation, and management of escrow closings.   She has negotiated and drafted purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, and ancillary real estate closing documents.  Patsy has represented property owners, retail and office tenants, developers, and lenders in all phases of real estate transactions.  Patsy has also worked on the formation and documentation of ownership entities, performing due diligence and preparation of documentation for asset acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures.

Sandy Jeffry, Senior Paralegal

Sandy has over ten years’ experience, both in-house and at a well-known Bay Area law firm. Before joining AJB Law Group, Sandy was a Senior Corporate Paralegal/Contracts Administrator at PeopleSoft, Inc. in Pleasanton, CA. She drafted, reviewed and negotiated basic to complex legal agreements with an emphasis on software licensing and business development related deals, as well as performing corporate records maintenance for a worldwide software company.  Prior to PeopleSoft, Sandy worked for Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, CA. as a Paralegal in a corporate practice group. Prior to WSGR, Sandy spent two and a half years at Maxis, Inc. in Walnut Creek, CA as a legal assistant and stock plan administrator in a two person legal department. Sandy has a well-rounded legal background including, all aspects of corporate records maintenance, copyright and trademark prosecution, stock plan administration and  senior level contracts drafting and negotiation experience.

Education- San Diego State University, B.A. Public Administration; Paralegal Certificate from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga.
